Is it the acts of the Holy Spirit or the acts of the Apostles?
Yes.
The discussion of the title of the book of Acts reveals a powerful principle. There has been much discussion as to what the title of the book should be. Sometimes you will see it called the Acts of the Apostles. Other times you will see it called the Acts of the Holy Spirit.
Divine/Human Interaction
It is both. In truth, we see the actions of the Holy Spirit and the Apostles. We do not see the Holy Spirit acting alone. We do not see the apostles acting alone. We see the Holy Spirit acting through the apostles.
This is an important revelation. When we consider how things get done in the Kingdom of God, we must understand that God is not doing all the work. Neither are we. Of course, God, through Jesus, did all the “heavy lifting.” Without the atonement and ascension of Jesus Christ, everything is futile! To say that the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is vital is a monumental understatement. Conversely, this empowerment was to fulfill God’s ultimate plan. From the Garden of Eden until now, we understand God wanted to work His Will through humanity.
ACTion is needed!
The Kingdom of God advancing your life, family, and community requires action. The action of humanity (you and me) empowered by the Holy Spirit will bring the necessary change we need. This world, family, and the church need this divine/human action today.
This Sunday, we continue the sermon series on ACTS. It will help you to know what God wants to do and how we can participate with Him.
