From Lost Dominion to Restored Authority
A 5-Day Devotional
Day 1 — Created to Rule Under God
Scripture
Genesis 1:26–28 — “Let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky… and over all the earth.”
Reflection
Humanity was created with a remarkable purpose: to represent God’s rule on the earth. When God created humanity in His image, He gave them dominion over creation. This authority was not independent power—it was delegated authority under God.
Psalm 8 describes humanity as crowned with glory and honor and entrusted with stewardship over the works of God’s hands. Humanity was meant to reflect God’s wisdom, care, and order in the world.
Many believers think Christianity is only about enduring life until heaven. But from the beginning, God intended His people to represent His kingdom in the earth.
We were not created merely to survive—we were created to represent God’s rule.
Reflection Question
Do I see my life as part of God’s mission to represent His kingdom on the earth?
Daily Declaration
I was created in God’s image to represent His kingdom in the world.
Prayer
Father, thank You for creating me in Your image. Help me live in a way that reflects Your character and authority. Teach me to represent Your kingdom faithfully in every area of my life. Amen.
Day 2 — Dominion Was Lost Through Disobedience
Scripture
Romans 5:12 — “Through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin…”
Reflection
Genesis 3 records the tragic moment when humanity’s authority was surrendered. Adam did not simply commit a moral failure—he abdicated the authority God had entrusted to him.
By obeying the serpent rather than God, Adam yielded his governing authority to a rebellious power. Scripture later describes Satan as the “god of this world” and the “ruler of this world system.”
This explains why the world is filled with darkness, oppression, and deception. Humanity surrendered dominion to a spiritual enemy.
But the story of Scripture does not end in defeat. Even in humanity’s fall, God was already preparing redemption.
Reflection Question
How does understanding the fall help explain the brokenness we see in the world?
Daily Declaration
Even in a fallen world, God’s redemption plan is greater than the fall.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for revealing the truth about humanity’s fall and our need for redemption. Help me understand the seriousness of sin while trusting fully in Your plan of restoration. Amen.
Day 3 — Jesus Came as the Second Adam
Scripture
Romans 5:17 — “Those who receive the abundance of grace… will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
Reflection
Where Adam failed, Jesus succeeded. Scripture calls Jesus the Second Adam because He came to undo the consequences of the fall.
In the wilderness temptation, Satan offered Jesus the kingdoms of the world. Unlike Adam, Jesus refused to submit to the enemy. He defeated Satan through obedience to God.
Through the cross and resurrection, Jesus disarmed the powers of darkness and triumphed over them. His victory was not only about forgiveness of sins—it was about reclaiming dominion.
Christ’s victory broke the authority of the enemy over those who belong to Him.
Reflection Question
What does Christ’s victory over Satan mean for how I live my daily life?
Daily Declaration
Jesus Christ has defeated the powers of darkness and secured victory for me.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for overcoming what Adam lost. Thank You for defeating the enemy through Your obedience and sacrifice. Help me live with confidence in the victory You have already won. Amen.
Day 4 — Believers Share Christ’s Authority
Scripture
Ephesians 2:6 — “He raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
Reflection
Redemption restores what Adam lost. Through Christ, believers are not only forgiven—they are positioned with Christ in authority.
Scripture says believers have been transferred from the domain of darkness into the kingdom of God’s Son. We are seated with Christ above spiritual powers.
This does not mean believers dominate people or control circumstances through human effort. Instead, it means we share Christ’s authority over the powers of darkness.
The authority of the believer flows from our union with Christ.
Reflection Question
Do I live with an awareness of my identity and authority in Christ?
Daily Declaration
In Christ, I have been raised up and share in His authority over darkness.
Prayer
Father, thank You for rescuing me from the kingdom of darkness. Help me live with confidence in my identity in Christ. Teach me to walk in the authority You have restored through Him. Amen.
Day 5 — Walking in Restored Authority
Scripture
James 4:7 — “Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Reflection
Authority in Christ must be exercised. Scripture teaches that believers walk in spiritual authority through submission to God and resistance to the enemy.
This authority is expressed through prayer, faith, obedience, and the name of Jesus. Believers do not fight for victory—we stand from the victory Christ has already won.
The enemy’s greatest weapon is deception, but the gospel reveals the truth: Jesus has reclaimed dominion, and His people are called to walk in it.
When believers submit to God and resist the devil, darkness must retreat.
Reflection Question
Where is God calling me to stand in faith and resist the enemy today?
Daily Declaration
Through Christ, I stand in restored authority and resist every work of the enemy.
Prayer
Lord, help me walk in the authority You have given through Christ. Teach me to stand firm in faith, resist the enemy, and live boldly for Your kingdom. Amen.
