Mary Rodgers

Hello, and welcome to North Church! My name is Pastor Mary Rodgers. I serve as the worship leader at North Church. My husband of over 20 years is Pastor Chuck Rodgers, who serves as the pastor over the Gatekeepers and Men’s Ministries. We have a teenaged son named Royce who enjoys playing video games with his friends, is a diligent student, and is an all-around excellent son. My family and I have called North our church home since the spring of 2014.

At the tender age of seven, I felt the tug of the Holy Spirit inviting me to ask Him into my heart while I prayed my bedtime prayers. I immediately asked my parents to lead me in the prayer of Salvation, and I received water baptism soon after. At the age of 15, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit while at church summer camp.

Growing up, my family always served at church. Naturally, I followed suit and served in church, starting in nursery and children’s ministry as early as eleven or twelve. As an adult, I continued to serve in nursery and children’s ministry, worship ministry, and also served various other roles. I have served in worship ministry at North for over 10 years. I served as a worship assistant for the previous worship leader for over 2 years until I became the worship leader. My husband and I served in children’s ministry together at North for a season as Rangers and Mpact Girls (Missionettes) leaders and as children’s pastors. We also led North’s jail ministry team together for several years.

Singing has been a constant passion and hobby of mine since I was old enough to put a record on a player or a cassette in a tape deck! In my teen years I began to feel a strong pull toward worship ministry. I joined my youth worship team at the age of fifteen and served on that team until I aged out of youth group. In my mid 20’s, I felt the pull toward worship ministry again and began serving in choir, then on worship team.

Currently, I serve as the worship leader of North Church. It is a privilege and honor that I do not take lightly. For many years I have received mentorship from other worship leaders, continue to study several courses focused on worship ministry and leadership, and have studied music and voice for many years. Now, I use the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years to disciple and develop those who serve on the worship team, raising up others to lead in worship well, whether they are a vocalist or an instrumentalist. Our team is like a family. We love each other, love God, love our pastors, and love serving the congregation of North Church. Our goal as a team is to create an atmosphere of worship for people to experience God and enter into His presence.
